General guidelines for preparing these essays.

These essay titles cover more than one aspect of the immune system in each title, because the number of tutorials in this area is limited and it is important to cover several of the core concepts. However, it is important to be able to synthesize the information for each in a way that illustrates understanding of the key concepts. Therefore, you should do your preparatory reading, and then put all of your materials and notes away, before sitting down and writing your essays. You should spend no more than a maximum of one hour writing these essays.

In each case you should also attempt to identify two or three key references (to the primary literature, rather than to textbooks or reviews) that are sources for key / central concepts of the essay and the evidence that supports them.

These essays are provided here to facilitate your ability to prepare and manage your workload. However, even if you do your preparatory reading / note taking ahead of time, please do not write the subsequent essays prior to attending the tutorials for the previous one(s).
